Electricity transported via energy transmission lines is reduced to 10.5kV, 15.8kV, or 36kV at substations located at city entrances, and then it is distributed throughout the city using electricity distribution lines. There are two types of substations: open-air substations for larger areas and gas-insulated substations for more confined spaces.
